Happy Novelist New Year

1738 words.

Not bad, considering I haven’t opened this laptop in about a month.

It’s National Novel Writing Month, and what better time for a novelist to reset her goals for a new year than NaNoWriMo?

It’s been a few years for me, but I remember my first NaNo. I did write-ins at a local coffee shop with other equally tense and anxious writers, all putting way more pressure on ourselves than necessary, but doing a bang-up job getting that daily word count that will lead to 50K.

I think it was my 2nd or 3rd year when I got the Double NaNo. Since then, my goal has been to make it to The End. And no, that Double NaNo is not at The End, and yes, it will remain unfinished until the end of time.

I think I’ve hit The End a few times, but the last couple of years, I haven’t even made it to 50K. This year, though… This year, I’m gonna make it. I mean, this is supposed to be the time when Sagittarius is finally entering the good life. I can do this. And with as much as life has shit on us the last decade or so, I think we Sagittarians deserve this good luck.

Those 1738 words bring the “New Idea” to a full on WIP that totals 4074 words.

Good luck, my NaNoWriMo brothers and sisters! We got this!
